Course overview

Riggers and signalmen are the crane operator’s eyes and hands on the ground. This program builds the competence to select, inspect and attach lifting accessories, rig loads for balanced and controlled lifts, and guide every crane movement using standard hand signals and radio communication – while keeping people clear of the load.

Training objectives

By the end of the program, participants will be able to:

• Select and inspect slings, shackles, hooks and other lifting accessories
• Rig loads using suitable hitches, sling angles and tag lines
• Give clear standard hand signals and radio instructions to crane operators
• Set up and control exclusion zones around the lift
• Recognise unsafe conditions and stop the lift when required
